Basketball Recap: Itasca Skates Past Texas Wind with Ease

The Itasca Wampus Cats blew past Texas Wind, posting a 62-26 win. The Wampus Cats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 29 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Texas Wind saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jai Johnson dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards. Johnson's big performance that afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points.

The victory got Itasca back to even at 5-5. As for Texas Wind, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Itasca will host Groesbeck at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wampus Cats' defense better be ready for this one: the Goats have averaged an impressive 50.7 points per game this season. As for Texas Wind, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Valor North Austin at 5:30 p.m. on the 5th.
