Basketball Recap: Chico Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Chico can now relate to. They took a 41-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Honey Grove Warriors on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 526th, while the Warriors are ranked 232nd).

Despite the loss, Chico saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Camryn Sides posted 15 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 53.6% of the Dragons' points, marking the seventh time in a row Sides has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Chico is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 20-15. As for Honey Grove, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 30-4.

Chico does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Honey Grove, they will face off against Bowie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
