Basketball Recap: Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park Takes a Loss

Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 64-17 loss at the hands of the Morgan Park Academy Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 655th, while the Warriors are ranked 275th).

Morgan Park Academy found their leader in sophomore Tiara Williams, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 38 points in addition to six assists and five boards. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Morgan Park Academy's points. Alana Haaruun was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Morgan Park Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park Hawks duke it out with the Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus Ravens at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Morgan Park Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Wolcott College Prep at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in Morgan Park Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
