Softball Recap: West Ashley Comes Up Short

West Ashley had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 8-10 to make it five. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ashley Ridge Swamp Fox. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Ashley Ridge, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

For Ashley Ridge's part, not much got past Allison Pokrant, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep West Ashley off the board. Pokrant has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ashley Ridge's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Addy Bacon, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

West Ashley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ashley Ridge, they will square off against Summerville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Green Wave's pitching crew has only allowed 0.9 runs per game this season, so the Swamp Fox's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
