Basketball Recap: Nevada Takes a Loss

Nevada lost against Waverly-Shell Rock back in January of 2016 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Nevada Cubs had to suffer through a 53-17 loss at the hands of the Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Go-Hawks are ranked 32nd).

This is the second loss in a row for Nevada and nudges their season record down to 7-9. As for Waverly-Shell Rock, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Gilbert the next time they take the court. Waverly-Shell Rock will host Gilbert at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, while Nevada will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
