Volleyball Recap: Hillsboro Indians vs. Miami Trace Panthers

After flying high against Wilmington on Wednesday, Hillsboro came back down to earth. The Indians fell just short of the Miami Trace Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in August.

While Hillsboro ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least nine points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 20-25, 15-9.

Ryan Wagoner paced Hillsboro's offense, picking up 18 kills. Wagoner got some help from Kayla Seeling and her 38 assists. Wagoner was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Miami Trace found their leader in sophomore Keionnie Ackley, who had 30 digs. Ackley has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last eight times she's played. Alyssa Easker also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Hillsboro's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Miami Trace, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, Hillsboro will face off against Waverly at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Miami Trace, they will take on Bishop Hartley at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
