It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but North Star ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 48-47 victory over the Penns Manor Comets. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on six straight.

North Star got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Smith out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in blocks (four). Another player making a difference was Andy Retassie, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards.

North Star smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Penns Manor lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dylan Kuzemchak, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points and five rebounds. Kuzemchak is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Tyler Cooper was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

North Star's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points over those games. As for Penns Manor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

North Star wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 43-38 defeat against Conemaugh Township on the 7th. Penns Manor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
