It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but North Star ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 48-47 victory over the Penns Manor Comets. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on six straight.
North Star got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Smith out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in blocks (four). Another player making a difference was Andy Retassie, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards.
North Star smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.
Penns Manor lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dylan Kuzemchak, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points and five rebounds. Kuzemchak is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played.
