Softball Recap: Eastern Sets Scoring Season-High Against Taylor

Eastern came into Wednesday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 27-0 margin over the Taylor Titans on Wednesday. The Comets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Maddy Stevens was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stevens was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Katie Hendricks was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five runs, and six RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marly Coan, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.

Eastern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Eastern's record is now 2-16. As for Taylor, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern will host Tri-Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: the Comets have lost eight straight at home , while the Trojans have lost six on the road. As for Taylor, they will welcome North Miami at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season.
