Basketball Preview: Collinsville Pirates vs. Lindsay Knights
Collinsville is 2-8 against the Knights since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Collinsville Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Lindsay Knights at 8:00 p.m. Hopefully Collinsville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
After a string of five wins, Collinsville's good fortune finally ran out. They took a 49-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Muenster.
Despite the defeat, Collinsville got a solid performance out of Carter Scott, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Scott hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Landon Carpenter, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lindsay's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Muenster. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lindsay in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now lost three in a row.
Collinsville now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Lindsay, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-19.
Collinsville strolled past the Knights in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 64-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Collinsville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
