Recap: Bishop Kenny Crusaders vs. Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles
The Bishop Kenny Crusaders came tearing into Saturday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Paxon School For Advanced Studies at home to the tune of 65-33. Bishop Kenny's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Bishop Kenny's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clare Coyle led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Coyle has scored at least 25% of Bishop Kenny's points. Another player making a difference was Riley Talbert, who scored 13 points along with seven assists.
Despite the loss, Paxon School For Advanced Studies still got an impressive performance from Ansley Hicks, who scored 14 points. The game was Hicks' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Majors, who scored four points.
Even though they lost, Paxon School For Advanced Studies were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Kenny only racked up 22 assists.
Bishop Kenny pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.58 points. As for Paxon School For Advanced Studies, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.
Bishop Kenny will take on Carolina Forest in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Carolina Forest is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Paxon School For Advanced Studies, they will head out on the road to face off against Ribault at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Ribault focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday.
