Preview: Alief Elsik Rams vs. Alief Taylor Lions
The Alief Elsik Rams will head out on the road to take on the Alief Taylor Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Wednesday, things could have been worse for Alief Elsik, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-38 loss to Dawson. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Alief Elsik in their matchups with Dawson: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite their loss, Alief Elsik saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tim Ofesi, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Ofesi has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricky Wilson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Alief Taylor unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shadow Creek. While losing is never fun, Alief Taylor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Shadow Creek is ranked 13th).
Alief Elsik's record now sits at 8-13. As for Alief Taylor, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9.
Alief Elsik came up short against Alief Taylor in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 46-39. Can Alief Elsik avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
