Recap: West Broward Bobcats vs. Mater Lakes Academy Bears
The West Broward Bobcats suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Mater Lakes Academy 78-17. While losing is never fun, West Broward can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 438th, while Mater Lakes Academy is ranked 192nd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mater Lakes Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Vanessa Vancott, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds. Valeria Cifuentes was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for West Broward and nudges their season record down to 5-8. As for Mater Lakes Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
West Broward will play host again and welcome South Plantation, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Plantation is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Mater Lakes Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gulliver Prep at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th.
