Baseball Recap: Zeigler-Royalton Gets the Win

While Zeigler-Royalton's win against Frankfort wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tornadoes narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Redbirds 6-4. The win continues a trend for the Tornadoes in their matchups with the Redbirds: they've now won three in a row.

Carson Hobbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Chase Cole was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor DeWeerdt, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Zeigler-Royalton's victory bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Frankfort, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Zeigler-Royalton will take on Goreville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Frankfort, they will square off against Benton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
