Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Lana Johnson and Georgia Levin

Roosevelt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hope Academy. The Teddies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hope Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.

Despite the loss, Roosevelt had strong showings from Georgia Levin, who went 8-for-16 on her way to 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Lana Johnson, who posted six points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Natalie Martinez, who had six points.

Even though they lost, Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Hope Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

As of now, neither Roosevelt nor Hope Academy have any future games scheduled.
