Baseball Recap: Goddard Has No Trouble Against Portales

While Goddard put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Portales. The Rockets blew past the Rams 11-0. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Cameron Brown was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 5.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Goddard is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Jose Porras was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Goddard: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jadon Herrera, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one double.

Goddard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Goddard's record is now 10-11. As for Portales, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Goddard beat Portales by a score of 5-2 later that day.
