Volleyball Preview: Waverly Bulldogs vs. Southern Coffey County Titans
The Waverly Bulldogs will face off against the Southern Coffey County Titans on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Waverly and Olpe meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Waverly sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 22-25, 25-18.
Meanwhile, Southern Coffey County didn't have quite enough to beat Chetopa on Thursday and fell 2-1. While the Titans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hornets 25-19 in the first set.
Southern Coffey County started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-19, 25-19.
Waverly will need to focus on slowing down Brooke Marlow, one of several Southern Coffey County players who made an impact when they last played. She had six aces.
