Basketball Game Preview: Parkland Mustangs vs. East Davidson Golden Eagles

The Parkland Mustangs will square off against the East Davidson Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Parkland has four straight wins, East Davidson has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Parkland hadn't beaten East Forsyth on the road since January 3, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 64-41 margin over the Eagles. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 23 points or more this season.

Parkland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Taniya Eldridge out in front who went 7-for-8 to rack up 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Eldridge is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Azari Wilkins, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 15 points and eight assists.

Parkland was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Forsyth only posted eight.

Meanwhile, East Davidson unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to North Davidson at home by a 56-39 margin on Tuesday.

Parkland's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for East Davidson, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Parkland was able to grind out a solid victory over East Davidson when the teams last played back in January, winning 52-45. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
