Basketball Recap: Odyssey Institute Comes Up Short

Odyssey Institute was the 38-32 winner over Fountain Hills when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Odyssey Institute Minotaur were beaten by the Fountain Hills Falcons 47-12 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Minotaur can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Falcons are ranked 30th).

When it comes to explaining why Odyssey Institute lost, don't look at Shelby Hunt. Despite the final result, she posted six points and five blocks. Hunt is crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Odyssey Institute has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Fountain Hills, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Odyssey Institute will look to defend their home court on Thursday against River Valley at 5:30 p.m. Odyssey Institute is facing River Valley at the right time seeing as River Valley is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Fountain Hills, they are taking a road trip to challenge San Tan Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
