Basketball Recap: Palmer Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Brookelyn Watts and Reagan Davis

Palmer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 56-43 to the Maypearl Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1006th, while the Panthers are ranked 363rd).

Palmer's loss came despite strong showings from Reagan Davis and Brookelyn Watts. Davis posted 13 points in addition to six boards and three steals, while Watts put up 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Davis has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played.

Palmer's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Maypearl, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmer will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Scurry-Rosser at 12:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Maypearl will take on Keene in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
