Baseball Game Preview: Dodge City Demons vs. Andover Central Jaguars

The Dodge City Demons will head out on the road to face off against the Andover Central Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dodge City will be strutting in after a victory while Andover Central will be coming in after a defeat.

Dodge City headed into their last match having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Liberal let them put that streak behind them. The Demons put the hurt on the Redskins with a sharp 18-8 win on Thursday. The Demons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Max Gonzales, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with six RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four). Elijah Weber was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Andover Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Valley Center. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Jaguars have suffered against the Hornets since April 17, 2018.

Andover Central now has a losing record of 10-11-1. As for Dodge City, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-14.
