Lake Norman Christian starts season with loss on the road

Lake Norman Christian had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 13-3 walloping at the hands of the Concord Academy Eagles on Tuesday.

For Concord Academy's part, Gunner Lyne made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Lyne was also big at the plate, going 2-for-2 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Concord Academy got a massive performance out of Jack Fabin, who went 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and a run. Another player making a difference was Kamren Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Concord Academy, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Lake Norman Christian will head out on the road to square off against Christian Family Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Concord Academy, they will play host again on Thursday to welcome Union Preparatory, where first pitch is scheduled at 4:00 p.m. Concord Academy's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Union Preparatory's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
