Basketball Recap: Doherty Memorial Comes Up Short

Doherty Memorial has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Burncoat Patriots. The Highlanders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Burncoat got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaiden Johnson out in front who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Cheyton Marshall, who earned 13 points.

Doherty Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Burncoat, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Doherty Memorial will face off against North at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Burncoat, they will square off against South at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
