Football Game Preview: Ellington Knights vs. Capital Prep/Achievement First Trailblazers

The Ellington Knights will take on the Capital Prep/Achievement First Trailblazers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Ellington will be strutting in after a victory while Capital Prep/Achievement First will be coming in after a defeat.

Two weeks ago, Ellington needed a bit of extra time to put away Granby Memorial/Canton. They had just enough and edged out the Bears 37-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since September 20, 2024.

Ellington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaron Ladr led the charge by throwing for 251 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes. The Knights' leading receiver Dylan Calsetta was Ladr's top target yet again, picking up 105 receiving yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Capital Prep/Achievement First was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against Granby Memorial/Canton, falling 48-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Trailblazers haven't been shut out since back in September.

Ellington pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Capital Prep/Achievement First, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Ellington was dealt a bruising 48-15 loss at the hands of Capital Prep/Achievement First in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Knights, Hashim Jones (who rushed for 146 yards and one score on only six carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
