Softball Game Preview: Penn Cambria Panthers vs. Bishop McCort Crushers

The Penn Cambria Panthers will take on the Bishop McCort Crushers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Penn Cambria fell victim to Bedford and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Bisons. The game marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Penn Cambria saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marley Shaffer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Bishop McCort also failed to score in their most recent game. They fell just short of Central Cambria by a score of 1-0 on Monday. The Crushers haven't had much luck with the Red Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Lariah Myers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

Penn Cambria dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Bishop McCort, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Penn Cambria took their win against Bishop McCort in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-7 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Crushers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
