The Gooding Senators will face off against the Weiser Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Gooding is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Gooding is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Kimberly, who was ranked ninth at the time (Gooding was ranked 18th). The Senators fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 10-9 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Senators in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.
Kaylee Silver was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Rogers, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Weiser came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Grizzlies.
Madi Janicek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Weiser got a massive performance out of Natalya Hoobery, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Ali Sorensen was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Weiser hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.
Gooding's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Weiser, their win bumped their record up to 15-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Gooding has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Weiser struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
