Softball Recap: West Branch Extends Winning Streak to Four

West Branch extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 9-2 in the process. They blew past Carrollton 8-2. West Branch might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Ellie Tucker was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Libbie Davis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Mati Hawk was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

As for Carrollton, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-4. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Carrollton's side, Reagan Schneiders was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits.

On the hitting side, Carrollton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juliaunna Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Branch will head out to face off against Poland Seminary at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Carrollton, they will venture away from home to challenge Minerva at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
