Baseball Recap: Hawkins Has No Trouble Against Union Hill

Hawkins won the last time they faced Union Hill and things went their way on Thursday too. Everything went the Hawkins Hawks' way against the Union Hill Bulldogs as the Hawkins Hawks made off with a 10-2 win. With that victory, the Hawks brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Eli Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Hawkins let Brayden Givens and Tilar Maberry run wild. Givens scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Maberry scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-4. Maberry is becoming a predictor of Hawkins' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Trevin Tanner, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

The win made it two in a row for Hawkins and bumps their season record up to 4-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Union Hill, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Hawkins didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-0 victory against Bloomburg on the 6th. Union Hill will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Miller Grove at 4:30 p.m. on March 18th.
