Volleyball Recap: Van Wert Takes a Loss

Van Wert was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Wapakoneta Redskins. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

While Van Wert was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Wapakoneta's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-15, 25-22.

Bella Wise paced Van Wert's offense, picking up eight kills. Wise got some help from Brissia Ickes and her 12 assists. Ickes was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Van Wert's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Wapakoneta, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Van Wert will square off against Crestview at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wapakoneta, they will challenge Fort Recovery at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
