Soccer Game Preview: San Leandro vs. Hayward

The San Leandro Pirates will square off against the Hayward Farmers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Friday just wasn't the day for San Leandro's offense. They fell just short of Mt. Eden by a score of 1-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 514th, while the Monarchs are ranked 196th).

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in December of 2024, Hayward was forced to settle for a draw on Monday. Neither they nor Alameda could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

Hayward's draw gives them a new season record of 3-10-2. As for San Leandro, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6-3.

San Leandro was able to grind out a solid win over Hayward when the teams last played back in January, winning 2-0. Will San Leandro repeat their success, or does Hayward have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
