Basketball Game Preview: Westbury Huskies vs. Sterling Raiders

The Westbury Huskies will head out on the road to challenge the Sterling Raiders at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Westbury took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Madison 72-31. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Sterling escaped with a win on Friday against Galena Park by the margin of a single free throw, 40-39. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Sterling has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Westbury, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Westbury might still be hurting after the 52-32 defeat they got from Sterling in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sterling's Destiny Lewis, who went 12 for 19 on her way to 28 points in addition to six steals and five boards.
