The Fulton Pirates will take on the Vestaburg Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fulton has 18 straight victories, Vestaburg has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Fulton got the win against Montabella by a conclusive 16-6. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Bryson Sattler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 15 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Billings, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Fulton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in ten consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Vestaburg's offense. They lost 11-0 to Sacred Heart Academy on Tuesday.
Fulton's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Vestaburg, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12-1.
Vestaburg's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fulton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for Vestaburg, though, as they've only averaged .191. Will they be able to contain Fulton's hitters?
Everything went Fulton's way against Vestaburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Fulton made off with a 17-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
