Baseball Recap: Boulder Creek Drops Highest Score of Season Against Putnam City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boulder Creek). They blew past the Putnam City Pirates 13-2 on Tuesday. The Jaguars not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 28, 2024.

Chase Lile looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Boulder Creek let Matt Bentivolio and Cooper Finn run wild. Bentivolio scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Finn scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Bentivolio a new career-high in doubles (two). Titus Franklin was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Boulder Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Boulder Creek and bumps their season record up to 3-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Putnam City, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Boulder Creek will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Timnath at 10:00 a.m. As for Putnam City, they will host Lake Havasu at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Havasu will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Putnam City surely won't give up without a fight.
