Basketball Recap: Washington Leadership Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Maya Angelou Public Charter last Monday, Washington Leadership Academy came back down to earth. Washington Leadership Academy took a blow against SEED DC on Tuesday, falling 76-46. The loss continues a trend for Washington Leadership Academy in their matchups with SEED DC: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Washington Leadership Academy still got an impressive performance from Dawaun McLean, who posted 18 points. McLean is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Amari Clarke, who earned nine points.

Noah Mercer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for SEED DC, going 8 for 15 from beyond the arc on his way to 32 points. With that strong performance, Mercer is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorenzo McCallop, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Washington Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for SEED DC, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Washington Leadership Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-42 loss against E.L. Haynes on the 19th. As for SEED DC, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 78-16 win against Richard Wright Public Charter School on the 19th.
