Century is 9-1 against Shawnee since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Century Centurions will head out on the road to challenge the Shawnee Redskins at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Century comes in on three and Shawnee on seven.
Last Tuesday, Century escaped with a win against Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45.
Century can attribute much of their success to Nevaeh Mackins, who posted 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kali Crain, who had 12 points.
While Shawnee didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They snuck past Cobden with a 39-33 win on Thursday.
Century better keep an eye on Emma Young. She was instrumental in Shawnee's win, putting up 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Young has scored at least a third of Shawnee's points. Berkli Holtman was another key player, earning ten points along with seven boards and three steals.
Century pushed their record up to 6-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Shawnee, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Everything came up roses for Century against Shawnee in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 59-21 victory.
