Basketball Game Preview: Humboldt Vikings vs. Dyersburg Trojans

The Humboldt Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Dyersburg Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Humboldt is headed into Tuesday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They took a 77-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of Haywood on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Dyersburg posted their closest victory since November 27, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Ripley 47-45. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Trojans were down 29-10 in the second quarter.

Dyersburg has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Humboldt, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Humboldt came out on top in a nail-biter against Dyersburg in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 60-57. The rematch might be a little tougher for Humboldt since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
