Softball Recap: North Schuylkill Beats Conwell-Egan Catholic for Their Third Straight Victory

It's playoff time, and North Schuylkill had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 16-13 victory over the Conwell-Egan Catholic Eagles on Monday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Spartans, who until this match were averaging 2.88 runs allowed.

North Schuylkill got a massive performance out of Mallorie Croker, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those five RBI gave Croker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gianna Capone, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: North Schuylkill lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win was the third in a row for North Schuylkill, bringing their record up to 15-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Conwell-Egan Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Coming up, North Schuylkill will take on Valley View on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 2.9, the Cougars 1.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Conwell-Egan Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
