Softball Recap: LaBrae Vikings vs. Girard Indians
LaBrae dropped their record down to 17-4 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Girard Indians. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2016.
Leah DeArmitt put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had over her last six contests. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Riley Rowe was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
As for Girard, the win got them back to even at 10-10. The victory was a breath of fresh air for they as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
On Girard's side, Brooklyn Broll spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

Looking ahead, LaBrae will head out to face off against Crestview at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Girard, they will square off against Beaver Local at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Beavers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
