Hamilton sophomore tied state record with 29 receiving touchdowns this season.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2025 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Roye Oliver III of Hamilton (Chandler) is the 2025 MaxPreps Arizona High School Football Player of the Year. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound sophomore wide receiver led the Huskies to an 11-1 record and Open Division semifinal appearance.

For the season, Oliver hauled in 92 passes for 1,839 yards and tied John Henderson's state record with 29 touchdown receptions. He also averaged 21.4 yards per punt return and took two back for scores.

In a 28-12 win over eventual state champion Basha (Chandler) in October, Oliver had seven catches for 210 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned a punt for a score.

Oliver's season-high came in a 49-13 win over Pinnacle (Phoenix) with seven grabs for a school-record 284 yards and four touchdowns.

The dynamic playmaker helped erase a 34-13 third-quarter deficit against Chandler to close out the regular season with 12 catches for 198 yards and two touchdowns in a 55-41 win.

Oliver broke eight school records this fall that included single-game points (36), receiving yards (284), touchdown receptions (6), single-season receptions (92), receiving yards (1,839), touchdown receptions (29), career receiving yards (2,700) and touchdown receptions (40).

Regarded as a top 100 prospect in the Class of 2028 by 247 Sports, Oliver has already landed 18 offers that include Alabama, Arizona State, Miami, Oklahoma, Oregon and USC.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
