Basketball Recap: Maranatha Christian Finds Playoff Glory Versus Clairemont

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Maranatha Christian had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 54-47 victory over the Clairemont Chieftains. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Chieftains are ranked 870th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Will Ralston had an outrageously good game as he dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 boards. He also grabbed three steals, which is notable because Maranatha Christian is undefeated when he posts at least three steals, but 10-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cole Niguidula, who posted 15 points.

Maranatha Christian's win bumped their record up to 14-15. As for Clairemont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 13-16 record this season.

Coming up, Maranatha Christian will challenge Canyon Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maranatha Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. Clairemont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
