Basketball Recap: Exeter Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Exeter unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through an 80-33 loss at the hands of the Galena Bears. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.

Leading Galena to victory were Jack Stephens and Jaxon Foster. Stephens dropped a double-double with 24 points and 22 rebounds, while Foster went 7-for-8 to rack up 18 points and six assists. Those 22 boards gave Stephens a new career-high. Cody Jones was another key player, shooting 47% from the field on his way to 18 points.

Exeter has already played their next contest (against Southwest), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Galena, they will take on Gloria Deo Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
