Basketball Game Preview: Grainger Grizzlies vs. Cocke County Fighting Cocks

Grainger and Cocke County are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2019, but not for long. The Grainger Grizzlies will be playing at home against the Cocke County Fighting Cocks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Grainger is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Cosby 72-51 on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Grizzlies as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Cocke County fought the good fight in their overtime match against Carter on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Green Hornets by a score of 79-76. The Fighting Cocks' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Cocke County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Grainger, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7.

Grainger couldn't quite finish off Cocke County in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 and fell 53-50. Can Grainger avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
