1. Sanford (Hockessin)
Head coach: Stan Waterman
2012-13 finish: 19-5, state championship game

Despite graduating six seniors, returning starters Anthony Mosely (Senior guard, 14 points per game, 6 assists per game; Delaware commit) and Todd Hughes (6-2 Sr. G; 15 ppg, 6 rpg) hope to get Sanford back to the championship game. They’ll be joined by Eric Ayala, who is rated as one of the top freshmen in the region. Having lost significant size, the Warriors will be able to score points from the perimeter but will need to develop inside play, according to Waterman.

2.  Concord (Wilmington)
Head coach: Ralph Flowers
2012-13 finish: 9-12, first round of state tournament

Returning starters Will Chapman (Sr. G, 10.7 ppg, 2.5 apg) and Stanley Dollard (Sr. F, 4.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg) are joined by 6-5 senior forward Paul Truckley and senior guard Charles Morgan in a lineup that is as deep as Concord has had in recent years. The Raiders are always tough defensively and typically balanced offensively, and there’s no reason to think they won’t look the same this year and make a deep run in the tournament.

3. Salesianum (Wilmington)
Head coach: Brendan Haley
2012-13 finish: 19-4, semifinals of state tournament

Returning starters Donte DiVincenzo (Jr., G; 15 ppg, 5 rpg) and 6-7 senior center Brian O'Neill (10 ppg, 7 rpg) will try to lead Salesianum back to the Final Four. Haley likes the size in his lineup and says if they can develop leadership and cut down on turnovers, they could go a long way in the playoffs.

4. St. Andrew's (Middletown)
Head coach: Terell Myers
2012-13 finish: 16-4, first round of state tournament

The Saints still have one of the top centers in the nation in 6-9 senior Ben Bentil (Providence). Jordan Bonner (6-3, Jr., F) gives St. Andrew’s a second ballhandler and another strong defender.

5. Newark
Head coach: Shannon McCants
2012-13 finish: 17-6, quarterfinals of state tournament

Last year’s leading scorer, 6-5 senior Jershun Greer (13 ppg, 5 rpg), leads a talented group of underclassmen that includes transfer Daquan Smith (Sr., 8 ppg) and sophomore center Andre Martin. Senior Akil Johnson returns after missing all of last season with an injury. Defense will be the focus for the Yellowjackets, but they’re athletic in all the key positions, according to McCants.
