Basketball Preview: Avant Garde Academy Sharks vs. Chaminade-Madonna Lions
The Avant Garde Academy Sharks's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Chaminade-Madonna Lions on February 5th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Avant Garde Academy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-25 loss to the Barracuda. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Avant Garde Academy in their matchups with the Barracuda: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Chaminade-Madonna's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against NSU University, falling 58-23. While losing is never fun, Chaminade-Madonna can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 612th, while the Sharks are ranked 290th).
Avant Garde Academy dropped their record down to 1-11 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.4 points per game. As for Chaminade-Madonna, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Avant Garde Academy was dealt a bruising 59-22 defeat at the hands of the Lions in their previous meeting back in November of 2021. Can Avant Garde Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
