Basketball Recap: Vanguard Knights vs. Citrus Hurricanes
The Vanguard Knights's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 44-2 victory over Citrus. With Vanguard ahead 27-2 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Vanguard's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sa'naria Gunsby, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. Gunsby also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Makiya Mitchell, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Vanguard's win bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Citrus, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vanguard will take on the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Ridge is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games. Citrus is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Bears at 6:30 p.m. on February 1st. Central comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
