Baseball Recap: Palmetto's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Palmetto can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the American Heritage Stallions, sneaking past 6-4. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 4-2 victory the Stallions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Brayden Arrick looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Gordon, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Hernandez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Palmetto's record now sits at 4-14. As for American Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Coming up, Palmetto will look to defend their home field on Monday against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) at 3:30 p.m. Palmetto's pitchers better be ready for this one: Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) has averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for American Heritage, they will take on Highland in a tournament on Friday. Highland's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so American Heritage's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
