Andres Betancourt leads a balanced attack to beat Tempe Prep

Recap: St. Augustine Catholic Wolves vs. Tempe Prep Knights

Even though the Tempe Prep Knights scored an imposing 62 points on Wednesday, the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves still came out on top. St. Augustine Catholic managed a 67-62 victory over Tempe Prep. Winning may never get old, but St. Augustine Catholic sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Augustine Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andres Betancourt, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Peter Dogbegah, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds.

Chris Milner and Austin Sampson certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Milner scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Sampson scored 20 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Sampson posted eight or more assists. Dallin Keeler was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

St. Augustine Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Tempe Prep, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Augustine Catholic will take on The Gregory School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gregory School is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Tempe Prep, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Horizon Honors at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Horizon Honors presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tempe Prep in Arizona (Horizon Honors is ranked 122nd, while Tempe Prep is ranked 264th).
