Volleyball Recap: Fairmont Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Fairmont kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 3-0 to the Pender Patriots. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Despite the defeat, Fairmont had strong showings from Layla Hunt, who had three digs and three aces, and Jerrian Taylor, who had 14 digs and two assists.

Jensen Bordeaux was a one-woman wrecking crew For Pender. as she had 38 digs, six kills, and three aces. Those 38 digs gave Bordeaux a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eden Gurganous, who had 27 digs and two aces.

Coming up, Fairmont will host Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pender, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Wallace-Rose Hill on the 12th.
