Wayne City takes loss despite strong efforts from Kenzie Seidel and Greenlea Vaughan

Recap: Wayne City Indians vs. Gallatin County Hawks

After flying high against the Hardin County Cougars last Saturday, the Wayne City Indians came back down to earth. Wayne City was just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 27-26 to Gallatin County. If Wayne City hoped to take revenge for the 49-44 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.

Wayne City's loss came despite strong showings from Greenlea Vaughan and Kenzie Seidel. Vaughan dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Seidel scored nine points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That was a full 42.3% of Wayne City's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Wayne City has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Gallatin County, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13.

Wayne City will head out on the road to take on Christopher at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gallatin County, they will face off against Galatia/Thompsonville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
