Sadly, the KIPP Navigate College Prep Tigers are still looking for their first win of the season after 12 matches. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 55-32 walloping at the hands of Cindy Avitia on Thursday.
Zephaniah Martinez and Derrick Tran certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Martinez scored 16 points along with five rebounds, while Tran scored ten points. It was the first time this season that Martinez scored 15 or more points.
KIPP Navigate College Prep dropped their record down to 0-12 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Cindy Avitia, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
KIPP Navigate College Prep's road trip will continue as they head out to face Luis Valdez Leadership Academy at 6:45 p.m. on February 6th. KIPP Navigate College Prep is facing Luis Valdez Leadership Academy at the right time seeing as Luis Valdez Leadership Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Cindy Avitia, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Summit Tahoma at 10:00 a.m. Summit Tahoma knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Cindy Avitia likes a good challenge.
