Baseball Recap: Fremont Has No Trouble Against Lakewood Park Christian

After only one run in their last contest, Fremont made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lakewood Park Christian on Friday. The Eagles blew past the Panthers 10-1. Considering the Eagles have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tyler Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cayden Hufnagle and Colten Guthrie did most of the damage at the plate: Hufnagle went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles, while Guthrie went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Guthrie has posted over his last 13 games. Jackson Foster was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fremont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakewood Park Christian only managed six hits.

Fremont's win bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Lakewood Park Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fremont will venture away from home to square off against Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Braves will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lakewood Park Christian, they will head out to challenge Central Noble at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
